Application Guidelines for 2020 Xiamen University Scholarships
(For new international students)

 Introduction
In 2006, XMU set up its own scholarships for international students enrolled in degree programs. Fellows will have their tuition covered. In addition, monthly living allowances will be paid to postgraduate students in accordance with Chinese government scholarship standards.

 II. Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2. Education level and age limit (as of 1 September 2019):
(1) bachelor's degree programs: have a high school diploma or higher and be under 25 years of age;
(2) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or higher degree and be under 40 years of age;
(3) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or a higher degree and be under 45 years of age.

 III. Academic programs
1. Study programs in Chinese.

2. Middle English degree programs.

 IV Duration of scholarships
1. bachelor's degree programs: 4 or 5 years;
2. Master's degree programs: 2 or 3 years;
3. Doctoral programs: 4 years.
Note: Academic results of Fellows will be evaluated annually and only those who meet the required standards will have their scholarships renewed for the following year.

 V. Fellowship quota
1. bachelor's degree programs: 5;
2. Master's programs: 11;
3. Doctoral programs: 8.

VII. Period of application: from February 1st to April 201930th,renewable every year .

The scholarship application will only be considered after admission to Xiamen University.

Applicants must apply online at http://application.xmu.edu.cn and download the scanned copy of the Xiamen University Fellowship Application Form (click to download). The scholarship application form must be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the candidate.

 Note:
(1) Applicants are invited to submit a complete set of application documents and will be held responsible for the authenticity of their documents. Incomplete or counterfeit documents will be rejected.
(2) Applicants should keep their phones on, regularly check their email account and online application account as XMU Admissions Office will contact them when needed.


 IX. Selection and notification
A complete review of the candidate's academic record, language skills, merit in general, research results, and comments from the prospective director will be completed. Shortlisted candidates will be submitted to the university authorities for final approval.
The final results will be published on https://admissions.xmu.edu.cn in mid-July. Fellows will be notified by email. Notices of admission and study visa application forms (JW202) will be sent later.
