Description of the scholarship:
The program set up with the Mastercard Foundation aims to support the trajectories of 126 talented African students, and to offer a new generation of decision-makers a university education in high-level social sciences, with the aim of making them actors of change in their country of origin.
During 6 years (2017 - 2022), the program will finance:
20 scholarships to study in the Sciences Po Bachelor Program, specialization in Africa
46 scholarships to join a Master's degree in one of our seven graduate schools
60 scholarships reserved for Mastercard Foundation Fellows studying at other partner universities and wishing to participate in the Sciences Po Summer School.
Scholarships are awarded through a network of partner institutions that adhere to the rules of the nomination process. Only the files of the candidates supported by an institution agreeing to adhere to the rules of the program will be studied.
The scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Sciences Po Bachelor program (3 years) within the Europe-Africa program (excluding double-degree programs) on the Reims campus.
The pedagogical approach is multidisciplinary and offers a fundamental curriculum in social sciences - law, economics, history, political science, humanities and sociology - and a specialization on Africa. The third year takes place in Africa, in academic exchange at one of Sciences Po's partner universities on the continent.

How to apply:
The scholarship application is made between the months of October and January. No applications received after January 29, 2020 at midnight Paris time will be considered.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must meet all of the following conditions:
Being a resident and citizen of a country in sub-Saharan Africa
Be in their last year of high school, and not yet have started post-secondary education
Have a very good level in French and English - Minimum B2 level (see language levels required)
Being in a situation of need for funding of their higher education
The application is made online on the dedicated website. Candidates will be asked to:
Enter personal information,
Attach a letter of recommendation from the institution supporting their application for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program,
Provide information and supporting documents concerning their financial situation and their educational and extra-curricular career.
MasterCard Foundation scholarship applicants will be asked to detail, as part of their application, their various experiences and their view of the issues that specifically affect the African continent. These elements will be decisive for the scholarship jury.

Eligible candidates will receive a notification by email, indicating that they can now apply online at Sciences Po by being exempted from the fees.
Candidates are encouraged to start their application for the Europe-Africa Program in parallel with their application for the Mastercard Foundation grant, but to submit their application formally only after having received the notification of exemption from the application fee. .

The scholarships are intended for high school students and students from sub-Saharan African countries, showing an academic track record of excellence and a high potential for leadership, but facing difficulties, including financial, access to higher education.
The scholarships are awarded for a period of 3 years for the Bachelor, 2 years for the Master, and 1 month for the Summer School. They cover all the tuition fees at Sciences Po and the living expenses in France during the study period.
